This Year Is About You

This year’s event is about so much more than fundraising.

It is our opportunity to celebrate the remarkable businesses, fundraisers, volunteers, trustees, supporters and community who have stood beside Fighting to be Heard since the very beginning.

Every sponsorship.
Every donation.
Every fundraiser.
Every act of kindness.
Every person who has shared our story.

Together, you have enabled us to support families living with Secondary Breast Cancer through some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Stand By Me is our opportunity to say thank you.

Our Host – Linda McDermott

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Linda McDermott as the host of Stand By Me.

Over the years, Linda has generously welcomed Fighting to be Heard onto her radio show on numerous occasions, giving us the opportunity to raise awareness of Secondary Breast Cancer, share the stories of those living with this incurable disease and highlight the work of our charity.

Through those conversations, we have come to know Linda not only as an outstanding broadcaster, but as someone who genuinely cares about our community.

We have always felt incredibly supported by Linda and are honoured that she has chosen to stand beside us once again as host of our biggest event of the year.

An Evening of Celebration, Gratitude and Entertainment

Stand By Me promises to be an unforgettable evening where music, laughter, inspiration and gratitude come together.

We are delighted to welcome an X Factor Choir, alongside an exciting line-up of comedians, musicians and special guests.

Further acts will be announced across our social media channels in the lead-up to the event.

Throughout the evening, we will also be sharing heartfelt messages from members of our Secondary Breast Cancer community, thanking the businesses, fundraisers, volunteers and supporters who have stood beside Fighting to be Heard over the years.

You will hear directly from people whose lives have been changed because someone chose to help.

Parents who were able to keep the heating on.

Families who could travel to hospital appointments.

Children who were able to enjoy precious moments with their loved ones.

Young people who found hope during the darkest moments of their lives.

This year’s event is our opportunity to celebrate not only what we have achieved together, but who made it possible.

Making Our Biggest Night Accessible

This year we have made a conscious decision to reduce ticket prices to just £25.

We want to fill the Epstein Theatre to the brim with patients, families, supporters, businesses and our wider community.

By making the evening more affordable, we hope more people than ever before can experience an unforgettable night of entertainment, celebration and hope.

Whilst this means lower ticket income, it also means we are relying more than ever on the generosity of our corporate sponsors and business partners.

Your sponsorship does not simply support an event.

It enables us to continue delivering our Winter Grant Programme, launch our Young People’s Counselling Support Programme, and ensure families living with Secondary Breast Cancer know they have not been forgotten.

By keeping our tickets affordable, we can open the doors to more of our community.

By standing beside us as a sponsor, you help make everything beyond those doors possible.

Why Your Support Matters

Every sponsorship helps Fighting to be Heard continue supporting families living with Secondary Breast Cancer through practical and emotional support.

This year, your support will help us deliver:

Our Fourth Winter Grant Programme

Providing practical financial support to families living with Secondary Breast Cancer and experiencing the greatest financial hardship.

Applicants are required to be in receipt of Universal Credit, ensuring our grants reach those living on the lowest incomes.

Our First Young People’s Counselling Support Programme

This year, Fighting to be Heard is allocating £5,000 to launch our first round of counselling support for young people whose lives have been impacted by Secondary Breast Cancer.

Some young people are supporting a parent through treatment.

Others are living with the heartbreak of losing someone they love.

There remains a significant gap in emotional support for children and young people affected by a secondary diagnosis, and we want to begin changing that.

This funding will provide access to professional counselling for young people who need support navigating grief, fear, uncertainty and loss.

The Reality of Secondary Breast Cancer

Secondary Breast Cancer does not just affect health.

It affects every aspect of family life.

Our patient survey revealed:

97%

said their diagnosis had significantly impacted their finances.

68%

were no longer able to work because of their illness.

These figures are why practical financial support matters so much.

Last Year, You Made a Difference

Last year’s This Is Me Variety Show at the Epstein Theatre raised approximately:

£28,000

That funding enabled us to provide:

58 Winter Grants

Those grants helped families:

  • Keep their homes warm
  • Put food on the table
  • Travel to hospital appointments
  • Buy everyday essentials
  • Ease the financial pressure of Christmas
  • Create precious memories together

One recipient told us:

“You have not only helped us financially, which in turn helps me emotionally by eliminating a huge amount of stress, but you have also made me feel like I haven’t been forgotten.”

That is the difference your support makes.

Our Headline Sponsor Confirmed

We are delighted to announce MJ Quinn Ltd as our Headline Sponsor for Stand By Me.

Their incredible generosity has fully funded the hire of the Epstein Theatre, meaning even more of the money raised on the evening can go directly towards supporting families through our Winter Grant and Young People’s Counselling programmes.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone at MJ Quinn Ltd for leading the way and standing beside Fighting to be Heard.
